I was visiting my daughter at Leeds Uni and it is very close to their accommodation in Sky Plaza

My bed was a childrens size and had a huge dip in the middle making for a very uncomfortable night's sleep. The hotel did knock off £25 when I complained.

How close it was to the station and city center, it was also very good value for money!!

The beds were very soft, stayed two nights and suffering with my back now!!!!!

The cleanliness in general and the prompt response of the hotel staff on a small accident my wife had in our room.

The hotel lobby and main entrance look.

Staff were friendly and helpful. Especially at reception and during breakfast.

My room did not look like any of the pictures post online!!! This hotel desperately needs a refurb. I'm glad I only had to stay overnight. The rooms are very shabby, furniture is basic and run down. Decor is grim. Bathroom/shower was clean but shower gel was basically hand soap, no shampoo or anything else. Very old bath suit / shower. Breakfast was ok but probably not worth £12.00. It's not in the best of locations, near a sad little shopping mall in a 1960 concrete building surrounded by lots of cheap take away vendors. Unless you are really desperate avoid this hotel worth paying an extra £20 for somewhere nicer.

Location - close to universities yet just a walk into the city centre. Easy check in and out. Room clean and comfortable. Plenty for breakfast.

Internet was a problem - they would benefit from free wifi throughout the hotel. They should take note of special requests on booking and keep promises to supply items requested whether they be for special diets or basic products in rooms. Some staff were good but some could have done better.

Comfortable bed, hot shower, clean, light switches near the bed

I was woken up at 5.00 by some very noisy lorries loading/unloading in the area just outside my window. This was very disappointing as it seemed unnecessarily loud - people shouting, lots of crashing noise etc

There wasn't much to like about the Brook Merion Leeds. The only good point is that it is close to the Grand theatre.

The hotel is not disability friendly. When i booked i asked for a wheelchair accessible room. When i arrived the double door in to the hotel at the front could not be opened to allow access for a wheelchair. It remained closed for the duration of my stay. The doors to the rooms are not wide enough to allow a wheelchair to enter. The lifts are not large enough for a wheelchair to be wheeled in. Each time i used the lift i had to manually lift the wheelchair. There was a portable ramp to allow access to the restaurant but it was so steep that it took 3 people to control the wheelchair. Other than this i have a list of about 10 other complaints that i will writing to the hotel about. never again

    Very friendly and helpful staff

The hotel was showing its age a bit but for the price it was acceptable.

Great location. Comfortable bed and a very safe place: the doors are locked each night at 11pm - 7am.

They don't actually have 'free' wifi: you only get 30 free mintues a day, and then you have to use it in the lounge. Unfortunately, the wifi doesn't work in the lounge so I had to go to Starbucks and pay to use it. Breakfast is a bit lack-luster, and the rooms are really small. The bathroom wasn't super clean: some dirt and pink stains on the shower walls and floor. Also, the curtain was too small for the window, so you had to position it just so when changing and sleeping so the people in the highrise across from my room couldn't see in. I liked the fact that the place locked it's doors at night, but 11pm was a bit early (for Leeds, anyways). So if you're going to be out late, keep that in mind! You'll need a cell to call to be let in.

We stayed at the Merrion as it was our grandaughters graduation. Despite havinhg booked the Hotel weeks in advance we arrived Firstlt to be told we had no booking !!! were we at the correct hotel?? Showed our paper work to be told oh yes you booked online!!! The booking was found under my daughters name. We had booked a double and twin room near to each other. However we ended up with 2 doubles on different floors and were told that it was not the hotels fault but the fault of the agents all tis took us 40 mins to check in. The rooms are dated and in dire need of a lick of paint. As it was evening when we arrived and had waited ages to sort the mix up about rooms ( at the same time another gentleman checking in had the same problems ie was he sure he was at the correct hotel etc) we went out to eat. Next morning we didn't bother to shower as the bath had black marks all over it looked as if over a time a cleaning product had been tipped in and never cleaned off!!!!. Breakfast was ok what we took to be the manager whizzed about asking everybody are you alright goodmorning. We thought we had landed in faulty towers. If you want a nice overnight stay in a good hotel I would give the Merrion a miss. We certainly would not use this hotel nor recomend it to others.

Do not be fooled by the photographs, this hotel is dated and needs a complete renovation, it dose not justify the price tag charged per room in its current state, it is situated in a very noisy and what appeared to be a risqué area of Leeds town centre, maybe that’s why they lock you in at 11pm, as a regular commuter to Leeds I would never stay at this Hotel again
